Wing Pictures
Virginia Elizabeth Wing, age 9 months, July 1912.

In August of that year, she was seriously injured in a fire.  Her mother left her on a bed to nap, and went outside to look for Elizabeth's older brother Logan.  While she was gone, Elizabeth crawled off the bed, made her way into the kitchen, got behind the stove and pulled out a gas line.  The gas ignited, burning the right side of Elizabeth's body.  Luckily her mother returned in time to prevent more serious injury or death.
She lost one finger on her right hand, most of her outer ear, and scar tissue caused her right arm to bend permanently at the elbow.  (In most subsequent photographs of Elizabeth, she kept her right arm tucked behind her.)
Although this 1942 photo actually has men of three different families (Fritz Bangerter, Logan E. Wing Sr, and Roy Gray) I chose this one because it is a very good picture of Logan.
Elizabeth, around age 2.  Notice how her dress has been arranged to hide her arm.

These photos were taken by Elizabeth at Christmas, 1929, when the Wings were visiting Logan's younger sister Holly Wing Carlson, her husband Herman, and their boys Logan and Kenneth in Galesburg, IL.

Inside the Wing Printing Company, mid 1930's.  Logan Sr., Ammy, and Logan Jr.  This was taken at their first location on South 4th Street in St. Joseph, MO.   The company outgrew the first buildings and moved a half-block south, where it is located today.  The Wing Printing Company is still in business and still run by the Wing family.

This photo is a bit of a mystery to me.  The girls are too close in age to be Elizabeth and Elva, so one of the girls must be their sister Ruth who died in 1917 during the influenza epidemic.  So it's either Elva in back and Ruth in front, or Ruth in back and Elizabeth in front.  Elva was blonde and Elizabeth had very dark hair, but I don't know what color hair Ruth had.
Elva, Logan Jr., Elizabeth, and Kenneth Wing.  Undated.

If I had to guess, I'd say this photo was taken in spring or summer of 1918.  As mentioned above, their sister Ruth died in December 1917,so it was taken sometime after her death. Kenneth was born in April 1917 and he looks to be about a  year old here.
