An Unexpected Visitor!
The photo below shows Elizabeth with musician Jack Blades, who visited her in St. Joseph in 1993. Jack is an avid collector of Civil War and Indian Wars memorabilia and artifacts, and he was interested in "Winners of the West." When his band Damn Yankees did a concert in St. Joseph, he contacted Elizabeth and asked if they could talk! She was surprised that he had put in the effort to track her down, and told me that talking with him was a real treat. She gave Jack (or sold, I'm not sure) several original issues of the paper she had saved over the years. The visit really meant a lot to her, and she referred to him as "that nice young man Jack" when talking about it to others.
